Executive Director, Stewardship Centre for British Columbia

With over 18 years of experience as a landscape architect, ecologist, and in various roles within the non-profit environmental stewardship sector, Sarah possesses a unique ability to connect the dots across disciplines, finding creative solutions to complex ecological challenges. Her master’s degrees in Ecology (University of Waterloo) and Landscape Architecture (University of British Columbia) also enable her to translate ecological knowledge into action. Her collaborative approach has been demonstrated in recent large-scale work on xwǝyeyǝt / Iona Island and along the Nicomekl River in Surrey, where she designed a variety of solutions that integrated ecological restoration, adaptation to climate change, and opportunities for environmental stewardship. Sarah has expertise in nature-based coastal solutions, ecologically-sensitive neighborhood planning, green rainwater infrastructure, flood-adaptive design, and watershed stewardship. She has completed Green Shores Level 1 and 2 training and has considerable technical experience in applying Green Shores principles to a variety of shoreline projects. As part of the Resilient Coasts for Salmon team, Sarah provides project oversight; manages and delivers Green Shores training sessions for community, stewardship groups, municipal planners and shoreline professionals and provides project management for the three Resilient Coasts Green Shores for Shoreline Development demonstration sites.
